What is Arterry?
Arterry stems from a dream; an adventure through a world populated by characters whose roles rely on the viewer’s perception. This is your investigation; you determine the meaning of the image. Where are we? How did we get here? What happens next? What we see is a moment of suspension – we have to leap from what we know to what we only suspect. The story that unfolds is as much yours as the artist’s; you complete the work.
Themes
The themes explored in these compositions range from Alice in Wonderland to Zen Buddhism, employing Surrealism, Cinema and Jungian psychology to provide a narrative flow through this particular stream of consciousness. Our only mode of transport is the imagination. Welcome aboard!
The artist
Terence Sweeney was born on Merseyside and educated in Los Angeles, before returning to the UK to head a college art department in Surrey.
He has exhibited in London and Los Angeles and has work in private collections in Britain and America.
